Unfurled (by me)

I was bored, so I decided to compose a song. the chords are: EM7, B, C#m, A, Asus

Girl,
Wait for my love to unfurl
I will wait for my feelings to whirl
See the sky
Gonna aim high

Girl,
You are always in my dreams
I can’t forget you it seems
As I fly
To the night

Rap:
Girl, when you show up in my dreams it’s so romantic
But when you leave, my feelings become so dramatic
It seems I can’t forget our moments spent together
Oh come on, please, just stay with me forever

Must he come to your life the moment I’m beside you
When I see you two, my jealousy lashes so true
How i wish that he was there
To see me making those things for you coz i care

(Repeat chorus)
Girl how I wish that you are with me now
I can’t take this, lets just make a vow
You know I like you, but your feelings for him are here to stay
It will be better for me to stay out of the way

Just forget those moments that we shared together
What I did for you when you were confused, remember?
When you were sick? When you wanted to cry?
When you told me that my humor makes you smile

(repeat chorus)

Hiding In My Eyes

What will you do
What do you feel when I go near
The stars smiles to me for you

Look at my eyes
For I can perceive your smile
It puts out the fire in my mind

But the sonnet’s already broken
Yet my feelings starts to hasten
So please let me know
What do you think of me

Look at your mind
Look at your heart
Read what’s hiding in my eyes
Oh no it can’t lie
It can’t lie what I see in you

Don’t know what to do
Don’t know what to feel when you go near
The sun seems to shine at you

And your smile starts to show up
My feelings for you build up
So please let me know
what do you think of me

Look at your mind
Look at your heart
Read what’s hiding in my eyes
Oh no it can’t lie
It can’t lie what I see in you

Apps for Low-end Phones

Not all phones have been made equal. This is specially true for the Android phones out there. There are low-end, mid-end and high-end Android phones. The low end phones - like HTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy 5, Huawei Ideos, etc. - are far less powerful compared to the high-end phones. Hence, they tend to lag a lot and offer less.

These are the apps that I found out useful for speeding up your phones. An asterisk (*) means that you have to root your phones to work. Obviously, flashing a different ROM and kernel can improve your device a lot, allowing overclocking and undervolting opportunities. However, this isn’t really for the faint of heart. I won’t add things such as Voltage Control or SetCPU on this list. I hope that these apps help you, though.

1. Zeam Launcher - Most low-end phones will lag a hell lot if they install a powerful launcher such as GO Launcher EX in them. However, with a measly size of less than 400kb and a little customization offered, Zeam launcher is by far the fastest launcher I’ve ever tested. The dock is scrollable, ergo allowing you to have an infinite number of apps there.

2. SD Speed Increase* - The normal speed that Android has set for reading SD cards is 128kb. This can be increased up to 4MB, but that will be unstable for a lot of phones. However, increasing it to 2048kb will work most of the time, and will improve your speed.

3. mVideoPlayer - Most low-end phones will be crippled when playing high-def videos (I don’t even know if they are capable of such). mVideo plays them with less lag. However, it uses the codecs your phones have, so if  your phone can’t play avi files for instance, then you can’t play them using mVideo.

4. Advanced Task Killer Free - With very little RAM and weak CPUs, low-end phones need as much free RAM as possible. This nifty app has a one-click solution to close all of those apps.

5. K9 E-mail - Some stock email apps that are included in phones are abysmally slow. By comparison, K9 is relatively small and is fast as well, with a little customization to boot.

6. Titanium Backup* - A very powerful app. With this, you can freeze or even uninstall bloatware in your system that no one uses anyway.

7. mClock - Though I usually don’t agree with putting widgets on low-end phones to optimize their power, this clock uses far less system RAM compared to most widgets out there (It uses 2 - 4 mb, compared to Minimalistic Text which can use up to 25mb)

8. Gemini App Manager - This is gold. It has a cache cleaner, an autorun killer, a risk indicator, and the ability to move your apps to the SD card if you are running Froyo or higher. Optimize your RAM with this.

9. Opera Mini - This browser is much faster compared to the stock browser, and very small as well. Though it’s not as powerful as Dolphin HD or Miren, it doesn’t really hamper your syste.

10. Quickpic - This photo/video browsing app is a hell lot faster compared to the stock gallery app, and not to mention that it renders pictures which can be set as wallpaper better.

11. imo beta - This is a fast chatting app, and it doesn’t hog your memory as much as Trillian or Nimbuzz. Try it!

Things you should avoid:

1. High-def games - Angry Birds, Crusades of Destiny, or other games which require a high memory and a strong CPU will lag a hell lot. If you must absolutely play those flightless birds, just download the lite version.

2. Widgets - Widgets are beautiful, yet they can slow your system down.

3. GPS-using apps - Seriously, these things can cripple your phone.

4. Installing ROMs not made for your phone - This will render your phone into a paperweight.

My current homescreens and lock screen for my Samsung Galaxy Tab. They have been skinned, deodexed and my Tab’s running the Overcome v.2.0 GOLD ROM and Overcome Kernel on top of the Gingerbread 2.3.3 OS.

For the lock screen, I’m using widgetlocker.

Free must-have Android apps

ok. In my previous posts, I showed you the apps that I use on a daily basis as replacements for the normal ones that the Android system provides. Now, I’m going to give you the free apps that I use on a daily basis, period. I decided to put an asterisk on the apps that I use which require a rooted phone. Rooting means giving you superuser access to your phone.

1. Facebook for Android - I tried to use Friendcaster, but I didn’t like it as much as the default app for Android.

2. Go! Chat - This is a dedicated Facebook chat client. It’s fast and it works.

3. imo chat - This is a very fast messenger that I use to organize my ym and msn chat accounts. It is more stable than eBuddy, and looks nicer than Meebo.

4. Angry Birds (including Seasons and Rio) - oh come on. seriously.

5. Soundhound - This is a nice and nifty program! This one can recognize the name of a song if you hum, sing or play a song on the radio near the mic of your phone. I find it more accurate than Shazam.

6. Blade Buddy* - I use this to turn the GPU hardware acceleration of my Tab. I also use this to enable the “stagefright” feature to make my videos play smoother.

7. Lookout Anti-virus - I use this av because it’s the top av for Android at the moment.

8. Where’s my Droid - this program allows me to locate where my tablet is.

9. iRunner - very nice running game. I like playing it.

10. Choice of Broadside - A text-based, choose your own adventure kind of game. Super fun.

11. No-frills CPU* - This is used for overclocking and undervolting.

12. Widgetsoid - This widget is like the power control widget but on steroids. It allows you to change almost everything on the fly!

Alternative Free Apps for Android

Hey all. I’ve decided to compile some of the apps that I use as replacements for the default apps that most Android phones have. These have been tested.on my Galaxy Tab, fully rooted, running Overcome 2.0 RC1 with cf-root kernel atop Gingerbread 2.3.3. Notice the term, “replacement.” I didn’t include the apps that I use which do completely different jobs from what the OS already provides.

All of these apps don’t need to have a rooted phone to work. :)

1. K9 E-mail - replaces the usual Gmail app. Not only is it fast, but it allows other e-mail clients as well.

2. File Expert - replaces the stock file explorer. Very powerful, and allows wireless opening of files on your computer.

3. Twicca - simple, fast, and elegant replacement for Twitter for Android. it also allows plug-ins.

4. Winamp - much better than the default music player. Pretty powerful for a free app.

5. Miren Browser - miles better in terms of interface and speee compared to the stock browser.

6. Zeam Launcher - although not as customizable as most browsers, it is small, fast and has a scrollable dock. Useful for low-end phones. Much better than any stock launchers except htc Sense. If you have a high-end phone, then you can use my fave launcher, adw launcher.

7. Free Advanced Task Manager - very useful and easy to use, but unless you’re os is Android 2.1 Eclair or below, it is beginning to lose it’s value. especiallyon Gingerbread (same as other task managers).

8. Cool Reader - replacement for your default e-book app. It has more options and doesn’t run in the background when closed.

9. mVideoPlayer - experiences less lag and more options compared to the default video player.

10. Quickpic - if you think that your default Gallery is slow, then this app will stay true to its name.

11. Exclusive Notes - highly powerful compared to any default notepads on Android.

12. Pulse - Quite a heavy replacement for the default news reader, but with an easy-to-use, gorgeous interface, it is well worth it.

13. Tumblelog - though this is still in beta, it is.much, much better than Android’s default Tumblr app in the market.

That’s all for now!

Wither

Believe it or not, we resemble Superman more than what you think. Superman also experiences live, shows that he needs friends, and of course eat. Like him, there are times when we falter whenever our main weakness is presented before us. For Clark Kent, it’s Kryptonite. For us regular humans, it can be anything, from phobias or emotions to things pride or friendship. For me, it’s simple, really. I am weak when it comes to finishing touches.

Let me explain. I was able to do my thesis without a hitch until chapter 3. When the time came to finish chapter 3, my gusto seemed to have faded away. For a whole week, I’ve been trying to put my finger on something that will complete half of my thesis.

This “finishing move” weakness of mine has exemplified itself into even the most mundane activities. For instance, in Heroes of Newerth, my characters are close to useless late game. Whenever im drinking a cup of joe, I don’t finish it until the last drop. Even when playing chess, it takes me a good chunk of time before I cam lay my hand on a checkmate or make my opponent concede.

It may have been a spur of the moment, or just a random thought that sprang in my mind. I’ve been truing to nullify this weakness of mine for quite a while. I’m pretty infuriated by my lack of ability to deliver a finishing blow, despite a spectacular start. Maybe this time, I might just solve that problem.

Well, at least I’ll do everything to overcome that weakness instead of just withering until I fall. That’s one difference between Superman and me.

And Superman, you have a new weakness; good luck finding a phone booth these days. We have iPhones, BlackBerries and a pack of phones running Android and Windows OS that are much more capable than those booths.

Chairs of Dusts and Mites

Whenever I talk to you
Windows are shattered like the fullness of me
Everytime I see you go
The emptiness brings a heart-felt pain

Ignorance is a blister; a sidewalk dirt
It pains to stay, but it won’t sway
Will this treatment to me subside
As I stay with my life?

As chairs of dusts and mites go
As books unfold and close
This chapter of my life blooms
As new hope has filled my heart

I don’t feel alone anymore
Everything’s different with you around
cliches aren’t enough to describe it
What will I do when I’m with you?

I wonder when I can tell you
My tongue’s telling me to confess
The heart’s raging to tell you
But… How soon can that be?
